BOGO Chicken Pot Pie
I didn't take a picture but it was really pretty and very yummy. I made a chicken pot pie last night with items I got on sale with coupons.
Right now you are finding soups on sale in many places. I got Progresso Chicken Pot Pie Soups on sale at Food Lion this weekend. They were BOGO and I had coupons! I also had a couple of large cans of chunk chicken in my stock pile that I bought on sale BOGO several months ago. With a few additional items from my freezer I made a delicious and easy meal that wasn't too unhealthy.
I put the soup and chicken in a saucepan and added a cup and a half of frozen mixed veggies from the freezer. I let this heat up while I lined a small square casserole dish with a premade pie crust. When the soup mixture was heated to a small boil I poured it into the dish and then covered it with the other pie crust in the box. I cut a steam vent in the top and then brushed on an egg wash.
I baked the pie at 350 until the crust was golden brown and the inside was thick and bubbly, about 35 minutes. The whole house took on a smell that made our mouths water. We could hardly stand the wait but we had to be patient. I let the dish sit for about 5 minutes after I pulled it from the oven.
Oh my goodness! This was so good and warm. It was the perfect comfort food on a rainy night and the perfect cost for my budget. Since I stock up I will certainly have this again. There are a few more cans of chicken and soup left on the shelf.

Everything's $1.49!!
Many of you may know that I have family in Indiana and I love to go visit them this time of the year. It's really the only time I get to experience a real Fall. We don't have Fall in Savannah. We have Summer then we have Winter. There's also something else really cool that we don't have in Savannah and it's called Darlington.
I'm not talking about a town in South Carolina. I'm talking about this HUGE warehouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This place is so cool and if you live anywhere near this place I envy you so bad.
This is a huge warehouse loaded with stuff from home decor to kids stuff, even kitchen items. Oh yeah, did I mention that everything was $1.49? There were a few items that were marked $2.99 but only a very few. This place opened today and will remain open until December 23. They will close and not reopen until next October. You read right. They are only open for a few weeks each year.
The place was packed from wall to wall with items and people. Everyone was trying to get the best items before they were gone. The chaos was very controlled and organized though. The only problem with this is the fact that inventory changes all the time. The owners travel all year buying items across the country just to fill this warehouse.
Everything is name brand and first run so you aren't buying company seconds that have scratches and dents. I didn't really know what to think in the beginning. We grabbed one buggy for the two of us. I went with my sister-in-law and Mr. CC. We thought this one buggy would suffice but we quickly found that wasn't the case.
The first big stack of items happened to be beautiful picture frames that had a retail price of over $26.00. I looked around and saw the rather large red sign that was hanging from the ceiling reminding me that everything is $1.49 unless marked. Could this be? I grabbed 3 for me and my sister-in-law grabbed 3. That was when we decided to run for another buggy. Mr. CC had stepped away for a minute to find the facilities and when he came back we had moved about 2 feet. You wouldn't believe this place!
Mr. CC was in charge of leading us through the aisles and holding our buggy(s) in case we wanted to get a close-up. At some points he would be holding both buggies. I swear I saw another woman give him the evil eye. She had to know at least one of them wasn't his by the big black purse sitting in the front. You have to check your patience at the door. You won't be the only person shopping and you can put money on that.
I absolutely LOVED this place. Have you got a few gift baskets to make for something? This is your place to find scapbook supplies and potholders. Okay - so my sister-in-law didn't know about this place. I actually found it while I was looking at the paper.
Had it not been for my coupon obsession we would have never found this place. We stopped last night and I had to get a paper for the Nivea coupons. There happened to be a sticker on the front page. You know, one of those little peelies. You can read all about Darlington at their website HERE.
